# Sequoia Capital and a16z Team Up to Allocate $1.2 Billion to Crypto Initiatives, Indicating a “Fresh Phase”

During the initial weeks of 2025, investors such as Sequoia Capital, Paradigm, and the crypto division of Andreessen Horowitz have allocated nearly $1.2 billion across 79 ventures within the cryptocurrency and blockchain sphere.
“This marks a fresh phase for crypto, and venture capital organizations are thrilled about the upcoming wave of startups emerging in the domain,” stated Justin Barlow, a venture partner and angel investor at Faction VC, in a conversation with DL News.
In the meantime, PitchBook analysts informed DL News that they foresee venture capital organizations investing roughly $18 billion in the sector this year, a rise from the yearly average of $9.9 billion in 2023 and 2024, which were also revealed.
“There remains potential for expansion in the nascent market,” commented Alex Booth, a partner at Hack VC, in a discussion with DL News.
She highlighted that investment volumes are still under the peak figures of 2022, but could ultimately exceed them.
