The founder of the “Silk Road” dark web marketplace received over 2.6 Bitcoin in contributions, worth $270,000, following his pardon by U.S. President Donald Trump on January 21.
In just one day, more than 170 Bitcoin transactions took place with wallets linked to Ulbricht.
“Silk Road” was a platform mostly employed for trading unlawful materials and utilized Bitcoin as its method of exchange.
It made up 20% of all Bitcoin transactions at its height.
Ulbricht, who went by the moniker “Dread Pirate Roberts,” was apprehended by authorities after more than two years of operation.
In 2013, he was held and taken into custody in a San Francisco library.

On his social networking site, Truth Social, Trump expressed his worries about the legal system that caused Ulbricht’s demise.
Ulbricht’s trial was rife with debate.
Two DEA agents engaged in the probe were found guilty of extortion, obstruction of justice, and stealing monies totaling as much as 80,000 Bitcoin from Ulbricht after he received two life sentences.
## Ulbricht’s Digital Assets
Now that he is at liberty, attention is focused on what Ulbricht will do with the Bitcoin he still has.
The FBI took almost 144,000 Bitcoin from Ulbricht’s personal wallets at the time of his arrest, making him one of the biggest Bitcoin owners. It is still unclear if authorities intend to sell these digital assets.
