Crusoe Energy, a Bitcoin production company based in the United States, is leaving the Bitcoin production arena to fully embrace the realm of Artificial Intelligence.
Crusoe announced recently that it is selling its 425 modular information centers, which are located in states such as Colorado, North Dakota, and even Argentina, to NYDIG. These centers have a total power capacity of 270 megawatts.
The agreement includes Crusoe’s Digital Flare Mitigation business, with approximately 135 workers moving to NYDIG.
Crusoe CEO Chase Lochmiller believes the acquisition is a mutually beneficial situation, stating that their innovative energy strategy for production perfectly complements NYDIG’s Bitcoin custody, trading, and production operations.
NYDIG, already a significant player in Bitcoin services, intends to continue investing in the newly acquired business. They believe that this action will strengthen Bitcoin’s proof-of-work mechanism and contribute to the network’s long-term security.
Crusoe Energy, founded in 2018, was one of the first companies in the United States to use stranded natural gas to power crypto production and AI computations.
The company is now changing its focus to growing its AI infrastructure.
Lochmiller emphasizes that they will continue to prioritize energy efficiency as they expand AI infrastructure and accelerate the use of AI in daily life.
The transformations had commenced back in 2024, implying the AI upheaval. To construct a considerable 200-megawatt AI information hub in Abilene, Texas.
