# GrokCoin, a Digital Currency Named After Musk’s AI Assistant, Reaches $20 Million Market Valuation
A novel digital currency dubbed GrokCoin, drawing inspiration from Elon Musk’s AI assistant Grok, has burst onto the marketplace, attaining a market valuation of $20 million merely an hour after its debut. The volume of trading has already exceeded $100 million.
The narrative commenced on March 7th when a user on X (previously known as Twitter) inquired of Grok, the social platform’s integrated AI assistant, what it would call its own memecoin. Grok proposed “GrokCoin,” mentioning its association with the AI’s designation and its effortless recall for digital currency traders.
In its AI-produced message, Grok elucidated that memecoins frequently derive inspiration from online fads and humor, alluding to Dogecoin (DOGE) and its roots in the doge meme. It also underscored the significance of community involvement on platforms such as X. The message even featured the token’s contract specifics.
Soon after the message gained widespread attention, the trading volume for the Solana (SOL)-based token surged to almost $100 million. The market valuation reached its zenith at $20 million before stabilizing between $12 million and $15 million. Currently, the token has increased by nearly 65% and is being exchanged at $0.018.
Information from GMGN suggests that the token’s accessibility to liquid assets remains robust at approximately $1 million, with a total quantity of 1 billion tokens. Since its inception, GrokCoin has drawn in roughly 12,463 holders, with net acquisitions totaling $180,000.
Intriguingly, GrokCoin isn’t the sole crypto asset capitalizing on the Grok designation. An existing token referred to as GROK, introduced on Ethereum (ETH) before GrokCoin, experienced a surge in favor following the memecoin phenomenon. As per CoinGecko, GROK has risen by 8.2% and is presently being traded at $0.003.
